Cuedos beat holders Laisterdyke Cricket Club in the final of the Flexprint Services-sponsored HEY’S TROPHY to win the title for the first time since 1991.Undercliffe Cricket Club hosted the match, which saw Cuedos conceding 125 points on the handicap.
It was vital they got off to a good start and did so as Shafiq Bashir gained 36 points from Lee Atkinson and Nayez Ahmad picked up 67 against Paul Chappell.
Atkinson recovered well to clinch the next frame by 37, although form player on the night Ahmad won his second by 50 to leave Cuedos only nine points behind at the interval.
With Bradford quarter-finalists Sajid Khan and Ilyas Khan yet to play, the writing was on the wall for Laisterdyke and it did not take the Cuedos duo long to edge closer to the title.
Sajid won by 82 and Ilyas by 66 in their respective first frames against Mitch Hale and Jamie Shields.
It left a mountain to climb for the Laisterdyke pair but they gave it a good go.
Shields led by 50 at one point before Ilyas made a 49 break to only lose by six.
