Victory in vain as title eludes Bradford No 1

Bradford’s snooker sides had mixed fortunes in their final matches of the season in Division One of
the Yorkshire Inter District League.

With a slim chance of retaining their title, Bradford No 1 travelled to Barnsley and won a scrappy
match by four frames to two.

Unfortunately, Castleford also won 4-2, so the title has slipped from Bradford’s grasp. They could still
get second, with Sheffield No 1 and Harrogate left to play.

Chris Melling had an unusually off night and lost both frames to Mike Henson, before Sajid Khan played
the best snooker of the night, winning both frames comfortably against county player Brett Miller and
bringing the tie level.

Jason Walton then wrapped up the match with two of the scrappiest frames you’re ever likely to see against
Paul Dunn.

Bradford No 2 were beaten 5-1 by Sheffield No 2 at Manningham Ward.
Sheffield’s David Portman started the match with a 122 clearance against Boover Singh before Singh replied
with a good break of 79. Gareth Green and Hanif Rafiq lost their frames.
