The Cuedos look favourite to reach Semi Finals
The New Cuedos look favourite to reach Semi Finals of Heys Trophy 2009 after last night
performance against Shipley Club. Both teams handicap was same.
Martin Unsworth took on Bradford player Sajid Khan when Khan was expecting to play
Jason Walton. Khan started well in first frame to build a 36 points lead but Unsworth
played some excellent safety shots and laid four excellent snookers to cut the lead to
just 3 points. It was another excellent snooker on yellow laid by Unsworth which gave
him a first chance and Martin cleared up with break of 27 to win the first frame 66-40.
The game plan was working for Shipley Club.
The second frame also started very scrappy with 8 reds tied up against left side cushion
and black ball plus pink tied up but Khan manage to knock a solid 57 break to win the
second frame 94–33.
Mick Sharp took on Cuedos manager Ilyas Khan. The best performance of the night was by
Ilyas Khan who was on a top form and won both of his frames. Ilyas had breaks of 30 and
20 to win first frame 87 - 22 and break of 28 to win second 93 – 17.
The New Cuedos took 176 points lead in first four frames.
Next was Bradford player Jason Walton who took on Shafiq Bashir. The Shipley Club was
hoping Jason will pull few points back but again solid Performance by Shafiq Bashir won
him first frame 64 – 24 and the second frame 78 – 30 with breaks of 29 and excellent 22
clearance.
Next was Topley who took on Niaz Ahmad. Ahmad started his first frame very well considering
he came straight from work to without any practice to win his first frame 71-51.
In second frame Topley was leading by 58 points with help of 30 break and looked favourite
to win by 100+ points but Niaz Ahmad had a excellent 55 clearance under pressure to only
loose second frame 61-64.
The New Cuedos ‘B’ will be taking a 284 points lead into second leg which is played on
Thursday 19th Feb at Shipley Club.
In Division One of the Yorkshire Inter-District League Bradford 1 team Chris Melling,
Sajid Khan & Jason Walton travel to Sheffield No 2 this Saturday and hoping for a good win.
